Dear, Looking For Answers

If you are serious about feeling better, more energetic, balancing your hormones and staying that way, I’d like to introduce you to your new hormonal fat-loss diet which will open doors to health and wellness for the rest of your life. Let me caution you first, there will be foods that come into your home that you will be tempted to eat because old habits die hard. Clear your cupboards of all foods not on your new eating plan. And then don’t buy them—if you buy it, you will eat it. I promise you that if you will dedicate yourself to making the important nutritional changes outlined in this book, you will no longer suffer fatigue and hormonal imbalances but rather you will prepare yourself to live a happy, healthy life. Your family will be your biggest supporters if you ask them to be—communicate your needs to them—they want your success and happiness more than anything!

When you buy your groceries, you will have to avoid temptations of buying the types of foods that pulled you down in the first place. These “anchors” make you feel lethargic and tired and cause you to look puffy and waterlogged. Not a good look for someone as amazing as you! You have daily opportunities to be an example to others and will be their mentor if you practice mental toughness and see this journey through to the end. There will be good days and bad days but in the end you will have a story to tell and they will look to you for leadership.

There’s one more thing I need to tell you. You won’t be perfect (wipe your brow and say, “whew!”). Being perfect is not your goal. Your goal is to become 1% better every day. In a year you can actually be 365% better than you are today. Does that mean you’ll be perfect? No. There will be challenges along the way always room for improvement. At first, probably every minute for the first 21 days (it takes 21 days to create a new habit). Feel free to take every day, every challenge, one minute at a time. In the beginning you may have to adopt a mantra for yourself and repeat it every single minute like, “today, I’m going to eat for better health.” Or, “today, I’m going to eat for the sake of proving to myself I can do it.” Or, “right now, I’m only hungry for foods that will make me happy”. Whatever self-talk you adopt, keep it meaningful and positive.

You’re in eating school right now and you are learning how to eat to make your body happy. When you feel well, you sleep well, you act well, you serve well, you study well, you work well, you play well, you exercise well, you love well, you lead well and you live well. So today is the first day becoming the person you were meant to become. Happiness is your goal. You are here to succeed. You have a new tool in your toolbox to help you get there. It is through conquering your weaknesses that you become strong. Stay positive even if you fall into old eating patterns for a meal--get your mind right and do better the next day. You can do this!

Love,

T.

P.S. I didn’t write the book--the geniuses Drs. Jade and Keoni Teta wrote this book with the unprecedented support and input from their devoted help-meets Jill Coleman Teta and Dr. Jillian Sarno Teta. I don’t need to reinvent the wheel. I am the motivator. If you want a workout, I’m there to see you get the best Metabolic Effect workout ever and talk you through it until you reach a triumphantly, energetic new you.

Rock climbing teaches you life lessons ... who knew!?

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

I'm in Arizona this week and took my brother-in-law Mike, up on his offer to go rock climbing. He's an avid climber himself and an amazing teacher. Through his business, Educational Endeavors http://educationalendeavors.com/, he teaches others to learn trust. Today, I became another student in a long line of successful rock climbing achievers by way of learning to trust myself.

Climbing a rock using a skinny rope and the help of a be-layer below, doesn't exactly give you a sense of total safety 50 ft. in the air on solid rock. What I loved about this climb is that Mike talked me through the footholds and handholds and helped me take the best path up the rock. Isn't that just like life? We always want to take the right path and we usually get there by making a series of good and not-so-good decisions. Ultimately we want to end up at the top...safely. I have to say that occasionally I got myself into a pickle on my way to the top. The rope got between my feet a couple of times which is not exactly optimal placement. Other times I could see the hand hold I wanted but it required that I leave my ledge of safety and take a leap of faith to the next level (never look down before you leap!). There again, it's like life. Only a tiny amount of faith in yourself and a tad in those who are supporting you is needed to let go and make a leap that will ultimately get you closer to your goal. It can be scary, no lie, but if you don't try, you'll be stuck on the same ledge forever clinging to inadequate toe and finger holds.

Inching my way over the pinnacle I was surprised that I still felt a little scared even after "arriving" at my goal. I was sitting on top which shouldn't have been scarier than clinging to the side ... but it kinda was. At the top I caught the full view of where I started out and how far up I had come. The fact that our goals and dreams are always something not yet attained--that's why we call them goals--we can actually fear something we've never accomplished. My experience tells me that there's a little fear even after we accomplish it--crazy isn't it? So let me ask you this: in your heart of hearts, do you believe you can achieve that ONE THING that would create ultimate happiness for you? I think we doubt our ability to be so great as to make our dreams (happiness) come true. Maybe even that we don't feel we deserve that kind of happiness. But guess what? We CAN be that happy! And whether you deserve it or not is not even a question--OF COURSE YOU DO! We actually ARE great/talented/smart/gifted enough but we won't know it until we prove it to ourselves by taking the steps needed to accomplish our dreams.

Once I was up there, it took me some time to get comfortable being on top. Funny, huh. I thought I'd be elated, thrilled and energized. That came later, in a more quiet sense of "what a great day it has been!" Is there a right or wrong time to acknowledge we've arrived? Not really. I didn't get the sense of accomplishment until I had climbed back down and then reflected on my journey up and back on the ride home.

So choose something today, start very small if you like, but choose something that will bring you happiness and then do what it takes to achieve it. My message to you is this: you never know what your true potential is unless you try! Go get 'em!
